My first spiritual experience,

In 1969 it all started with the passing of my grandmother when I was seven years old. We lived in my grandmas house in Dulwich London, she had the ground floor while we as a family lived in the upper rooms of the house. My Grandma was very old fashioned and visitors for us were frowned upon unless my dad was present.

A while after my Grandmas funeral my mum was taking tea with a family friend when the door burst open with such force it left a dent in the wall. There was no one there and the wind had nothing to do with it, as the doors were fitted with big locks and handles that needed turning to enter all rooms. They both jumped out of their skins.

When the time came for our friend to leave, he said his goodbyes and started to descend the stairs, at which point the lights went out, so mum switched them on again, and again the lights went out (this happened twice more). There was no one else in the house and our friend who getting rather shook up by the experience, stated quite firmly that he was never ever coming here again! And he didn’t.

Later that evening, my dad returned home from work, mum told him what had happened and all he could do was laugh. It was when we had all gone to bed that the next event took place.

The bedroom was large enough for a double and two single beds, two large wardrobes, and a dressing table, there was another room but mum used that as an office as she had been a secretary for the Beatles fan club amongst other things! (Now that’s scary. ed) So that’s why we all slept in one room. My sister and I had gone to bed a few hours earlier as we were told to but were still awake when our parents retired, a few minutes later there came a tapping on the bedroom door, mum sat up and dad ignored it, then there was a knock, this time dad sat up, it wasn’t until the door nearly came off its hinges that dad calmly got up and like a fool, opened the door and said “do come in”.

There was silence at least for a while anyway, then my parents bed shook so violently that the eiderdown slipped off, this only lasted for a second or two, strangely none of us said a word, we just settled down and went to sleep, well at least I did!
